So What Are We Doing Here Anyway?

It’s a good question. What are we doing here? What is this entire experience about?

Family, friends, enemies. Love, laughter, pain, joy. Memories, death, light, dark, good, evil, and everything in between. What is the point of it all?

This certainly isn’t a topic we would all agree on, but it is an interesting place we find ourselves in here on Earth. Spiritual beings having a physical experience? Physical beings with a spirit? Physical beings with no spirit? Or is it all an illusion, and we’re in the Matrix?

All I can see is my view, and even my beliefs can feel firmly grounded at one point and then shift—or completely change—at another.

But I do personally believe we are spirit first, and that we’re here to learn. There’s giving and there’s receiving in that learning.

Finding Something Within

I’m not religious. I prefer the idea of being able to experience God, the Creator, the higher power, the source we come from—however you want to refer to it. For me, that experience is within.

I believe the truth can be found and discovered within through meditation. That’s the only thing that really makes sense to me. Somehow, we can find the truth within.

For me, it started with lucid dreaming. I remember thinking maybe I could discover the truth and the reasons why we’re here through my dreams. That led to me discovering Sant Mat, a spiritual path from the East, and I was intrigued by the idea of “Don’t believe me. Prove it for yourself.”

That’s what I was missing from religion. And the “prove it for yourself” comes through daily meditation.

That shift happened for me in the late 90s. I was initiated by Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj of Science of Spirituality, and that’s when I shifted to vegetarianism and trying to live a peaceful, nonviolent life.

Living It Is the Difficult Part

In truth, it’s been very difficult.

This is a tough world to navigate while maintaining your inner peace and your appreciation for life. You want to be a force for good. You want to do good and leave Earth better than you found it.

But while doing that and maintaining a connection to your core beliefs, you have to navigate a world that doesn’t necessarily think like you, feel like you, or believe what you believe. Or, for that matter, care what you think or believe.

It’s a tough journey, a path we all walk. And to tie it back to Earth being a place for learning, I believe that’s why we’re here. That’s why those challenges are there: for us to learn.

What Fuels the Music

The point I’d like to make is that this is what fuels the music I write.

It brings me inner peace. It’s my way to escape the troubles and challenges of the world for a while. A way for me to reflect, contemplate, meditate, and tap into positive energy and positive vibrations.

It gives me purpose, and it allows me to share it with others, with the hope and intention that it brings them the same joy and peace it brings me.

So whether we find all the answers or not, we’re here. We’re in this journey together.

If you’re reading this, maybe you’ve discovered my music and it has been a positive force for good in your life. If so, I’m grateful for that.
